How many times have you identified something in your life you want to change, but failed to actually make that change?

Maybe you’ve wanted to change the time you wake up each day, or the time you go to bed, or you’ve wanted to change your spending habits, or eating habits.   Maybe you’ve wanted to start a workout program.

The inability to change a habit can be frustrating and defeating.

Real lasting change requires winning the inner battle that takes place when you have a personal habit you want to change, but often lack the self-discipline to make it.  As long as you keep fighting that battle, trying to muster the self-discipline…trying to be more determined, chances are you’re going to lose the battle.

So how can real change take place?  Here it is: When the pain to stay the same is greater than the pain to change, then you will change.

Let’s face it, change is a pain.   If you want to wake up earlier…it’s a pain!  If you want to start working out…it’s a pain.

The reason you haven’t made the change you say you want is because the pain isn’t great enough.  When you get to the point in your life where the pain you experiencing from staying the same day after day is greater than the pain you will experience from making the change, then you will naturally change.

The self-discipline will be there.  The determination will be there.   The motivation will be there.  The change will happen.

Instead of just identifying what you want to change, identify why you want to change.  Make is super clear!  Write down the pain you are experiencing from not changing.  If you find the reasons you are staying the same are not that painful, then probably won’t change.

Many people live on a fantasy island called, “Someday Isle.”  Someday I’ll get my finances together…someday I’ll start getting in shape….someday I’ll start that new business…someday I’ll…

If you’ve been living on “Someday Isle”, it’s time to get off the island.  But until you get to the point where you say, “Enough is enough!” you’ll remain in the fantasy of someday making the change.  And the problem with someday is, it never comes.

Change is possible!

Making change is more than just having greater will-power, and it’s more than just trying harder.  It’s about the pain you associate with staying the same vs the pain you associate with changing.

Which pain is greater for you?

Instead of just identifying what you want to change,
identify why you want to change.
