Six Things to Give Up Today

For those trying to improve the quality of their life, the following two lists will help you do just that. We live in a world where many people have a victim mentality and really believe that life happens to them, rather than life being something they can take control of.

With all that is going on around you these days, with COVID impacting everyone in some way, it’s easy to focus on those things that are beyond your control. I want to help you today to focus on what you CAN control.

Regardless of what is going on around you and the difficulty of your situation, take some time to contemplate how your life would be different if you gave up these 6 things:

1. Complaining
2. Holding grudges
3. Self-doubt
4. Negative thinking
5. Blaming
6. Living in fear

The “give up” list is something that we have to choose daily.  Our natural tendency as humans is to do every one of those things we should be giving up.

When things are difficult and your facing situations that are unfair, or dealing with difficult people, it’s easy to to DO the very thing that is only going to make your life harder.

Instead of doing the things on the list above, decide that you will not allow any of those things to be a part of your life today. Rather, choose to DO those things listed below and watch how you feel better, feel more in control, and watch the quality of your life improve.

1. Compliment others
2. Forgive quickly
3. Show self-confidence
4. Think positive
5. Accept responsibility
6. Live with courage

Just like the “give up” list, you must make a decision to do the 6 things on the second list.

Take control of your life.

You have much that you can do, regardless of how difficult your current situation is.

You’ve got what it takes!

Are you growing?

In a world that is constantly changing, having a growth mindset is essential to success.  The COVID Pandemic is leading the way by stifling the growth and progress of many people.  Don’t be one of them.  If you are not growing, then you are dying – there is no staying the same – and no matter what your situation there are opportunities for growth.

Here’s how to grow through what you go through:

Life is what you make it.

Life is what you make it.

Yes, even in the midst of the COVID-19 Pandemic, the quality of your life is not in your circumstances, it’s not in what you can or cannot do, it’s not a result of how much is in your bank account, or anything else.

The quality of your life is the quality of your thoughts, attitudes, and actions. This is so important to understand because this means that when things all around you are spinning out of control, YOU are still in control of your life.

“Are you focused on the prize or the process?”

What goal have you been working towards?  Has this current world situation of COVID-19 put things on hold?  Has it been hard to get to the results you wanted?  Like nearly everyone, you have experienced setbacks, pain, and frustrations.

I want you to consider the PRIZE and the PROCESS.

The difficulty you are experiencing in the pursuit of your goal is normal.  Pain, adversity, and failure are just a part of the process that you must go through…even extreme difficulty like business and gatherings being shut down, and the world being turned upside down because of a virus.

Focus on the PROCESS rathe than the PRIZE.

5 ways to make adversity your advantage

“When everything seems to be going against you, remember that the airplane takes off against the wind, not with it.”
-Henry Ford

Remember this quote the next time you are facing a difficult situation.  It’s only when the wind is against the plane that it is able to take off and soar.  This is also true in our own lives.

You’re true character shows when you’re facing adverse circumstances.  When you feel beat up and beat down, that’s when you remind yourself that this is your time to shine.  It’s time to turn this adversity into your advantage.  Here’s how:

One degree can make all the difference!

Success is about making small adjustments.

In 1983 Korean Airliner 007 took off from from New York City headed to Anchorage Alaska and then on to Seoul Korea.  When the plane took off from Anchorage, there was an error of about 1 degree in the flight plan, and that 1 degree difference had a huge impact on that flight and the fate of the 269 people on board.
