As you work towards accomplishing your goals and dreams, you will certainly face adversity.  There will always be mountains to climb, and as soon as you conquer one mountain you will probably find another.

It may even seem at times that everything is going wrong, and victories are few and far between.

Remember, no one cruises their way to success!

There will be ups and downs, highs and lows…and let’s face it, sometimes wins are just hard to come by.

When you experience any sort of victory you MUST celebrate!  Here are 3 reasons why you must acknowledge and celebrate even the smallest wins:

1.  It reminds you that things aren’t all bad.
Sometimes when things aren’t going well, we feel like there is nothing good happening.  It’s easy for the negative to cast a big shadow on any positives…so that all we see are the negatives.  In Pat Riley’s book, “The Winner Within”, he talks about in any negative situation, always find the “seed of equivalent benefit”.  It’s there.  Find it.

Especially when it feels like nothing is going right, stop and find something positive; even if it’s the simple fact that you are going to learn something in this negative situation that will make you better and stronger.

2.  It gives you momentum and motivation.
When you focus on the successes of your life, it gives you momentum.  It makes you realize that if you got a win today, you can get another one tomorrow.   Before you know it you will be stringing together several victories in a row, and they will become bigger and bigger wins.

Celebrating your small victories is motivating.  When you’re feeling discouraged and feeling unmotivated, go back to your wins.  Chances are you’ve forgotten some of them.  Keep a journal and write down all your successes for the times when you’re feeling discouraged and unmotivated.

3.   It reminds you that slow progress is still progress.
We often are looking for that big win – that big home run, and if we don’t get it then we feel defeated and discouraged.  Remember, if you are moving forward, even at the slowest rate….well, you are still moving forward!

Understand that the small win you are celebrating is moving you just that much closer to your goal.   We live in a microwave society.   We want to put something in the microwave for 3-4 minutes and pull out a gourmet dinner.   But success takes time.  It takes patience.  Inch by inch, you will get there!

Celebrate your wins, even though small ones!

Find the positive, build some momentum and remember even slow progress is still progress!
